Former Romanian hospital managers sentenced to 3 years of probation

Former hospital managers Bogdan Paltineanu and Dan Straja received yesterday a three-year suspended sentence for bribery. The decision of the Bucharest Court of Appeal is final. Bogdan Paltineanu was the manager of the Bagdasar Arseni hospital whereas Dan Nicolae Straja was the manager of the Oncology Institute "Alexander Trestioreanu”. The anti-corruption prosecutors indicted the two men at the beginning of August 2016. Paltineanu was accused of corruption offences that took place while he was the manager of the National Institute of Gerontology and Geriatrics "Ana Aslan". Paltineanu received almost EUR 80,000 as bribe from the representative of four companies to help them earn contracts with the hospital in 2015, according to the prosecutors. Dan Nicolae Straja was accused of receiving a EUR 95,750 bribe to help two companies win the tenders for the supply of medical equipment organized by the hospital he ran. editor@romania-insider.com
