Update: Metrorex announced on Tuesday, August 18, that it makes daily payments to its electricity supplier, Hidroelectrica, to progressively reduce and settle its outstanding payment obligations. The company stated that at present, the value of its payment obligations to Hidroelectrica is less than one month’s consumption.
“We wish to emphasize that Metrorex has a strategic role in ensuring mobility in the Municipality of Bucharest and in the metropolitan area. Subway transport represents an essential component of the integrated public transport system and directly contributes to the functioning of economic and social activities,” the company said in a press release.
