Coronavirus pandemic: Romanians not allowed tourist entry to Cyprus

Romania is still on Cyprus' C-list of states whose residents are not allowed entry for tourist purposes, the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) said, quoted by daily Adevarul.

Romania is on the C-list alongside Bulgaria, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Portugal, Serbia, and Sweden.

At the same time, starting August 4, the special permit needed to enter Cyprus can be obtained through the portal www.cyprusflightpass.gov.cy. The documents demonstrating the need to travel to Cyprus can be sent alongside the request for a special permit to enter the country.

The Cyprus authorities have also set up, starting August 1, a dedicated call center offering assistance to users of the CyprusFlightPass platform, available at the 00357 24841234.

Citizens coming from countries on the C-list can only enter Cyprus under certain conditions.

Cypriot citizens and foreign citizens who have the right to reside in Cyprus can enter the country by showing documents demonstrating the residence, the travel permit obtained through the CyprusFlightPass platform 24 hours before the travel, and a negative RT-PCR coronavirus test. The test can be done in Romania, at an accredited lab, or at the airport, upon arrival.

Other citizens - such as holders of diplomatic passports on a mission, business people or scientists who need to travel for professional reasons, athletes who have contracts with clubs in Cyprus, specialists who hold labor contracts, patients, or humanitarian cases – can enter the country only if they show a special permit, issued by the Cyprus Ministry of the Interior. Besides the special permit, they also need to show the travel permit obtained through the CyprusFlightPass platform and a negative RT-PCR Covid-19 test. The holders of the special permit can only take the test in Romania, a maximum of 72 hours before entering the country.

At the same time, all citizens arriving from countries on the C-list need to self-isolate for 14 days. Those who do not follow the requirement risk a fine of EUR 300.
