Romanian environment minister wants “cash for clunkers” program for appliances

Romanian environment minister Gratiela Gavrilescu proposes a “cash for clunkers” program for electrical appliances. She says that people want to get rid of their old appliances but have no idea where to take them and such a project is needed. The minister said she already talked to the largest appliance producers and importers in Romania about launching such a program, local News.ro reported. However, she didn’t go into details about how such a program would work. The Environment Ministry has been running a “Cash for Clunkers” program that encourages Romanians to scrap their old cars and buy new ones that pollute less.
