Romanian businessman Cristian Burci has been indicted by the prosecutors of the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism for setting up an organized criminal group, fraudulent management, tax evasion, embezzlement with very serious consequences and money laundering.
The damages are calculated at almost EUR 33 mln, according to a DIICOT statement quoted by G4media.
Burci and six other people, including a German citizen, are accused of looting the wagon manufacturer Romvag Caracal. The lawsuit can begin now, after a six-year investigation.
Burci has left the country and recently married in Abu Dhabi. Burci denied that his departure from Romania had anything to do with the Romvag case.
Last year, Cristian Burci was sent to court in another criminal case investigated by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA). The businessman is accused of buying influence in connection with the 2017 visit of Liviu Dragnea, then president of PSD, at the inauguration of the mandate of the US President, Donald Trump.
