Bucharest City Hall will install 40 EV charging stations, mayor says

Based on the regulation approved by the General Council, the City Hall will install 40 charging stations for electric vehicles in Bucharest, mayor Nicusor Dan announced. He also said those using these spaces as parking spots will risk fines of up to RON 1,000.

The charging stations are to be set up in areas such as Amzei Square, Victoriei Square, Alba Iulia Square, Constituției Square, Revoluției Square, Universitate, Bucur Obor, Rahova, Sala Palatului, Bucharest City Hall, Aviatorilor Blvd., Timișoara Blvd., Iuliu Maniu Blvd., Schitu Măgureanu Blvd., Mendeleev street, Ziduri-Moși street, Calea Plevnei, Splaiul Unirii, and more.

Under the regulation approved during the May 30 meeting of the General Council, the spaces for these EV charging stations can be arranged without a building permit as long as they don’t affect the traffic.

Plus, the new rules also establish the places where charging stations cannot be installed (such as green spaces or playgrounds) and the fines. According to mayor Dan, individuals who use these spaces to park their cars risk fines between RON 500 and RON 1,000.

All the new charging stations will be marked accordingly, with signs drawn on the asphalt and information panels, the mayor also said.

The Energetica Servicii Company will provide the charging stations and the equipment necessary for their operation and will place them in the spaces made available by the Streets Administration.
