Travel restrictions: Belgium adds Romania to the ‘red zones’ list

Belgium has included Romania on the list of "red zones," the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced, Digi24 reported. This means that the COVID-19 test and quarantine are mandatory upon arrival in Belgium.

"According to the new measures, starting with August 26, Romania's entire territory was included in the red zone. Thus, all persons arriving in the Kingdom of Belgium from any region of Romania must enter self-isolation and perform a molecular PCR test to detect COVID-19 infection upon arrival in this country," MAE announced.

"In fact, all persons arriving in the Kingdom of Belgium from the regions included in the red zone must enter self-isolation and perform a PCR molecular test to detect COVID-19 infection. The test is carried out by the Belgian authorities upon arrival in this country. Travelers are required to contact a doctor or a family doctor, who will then arrange the testing. According to the information provided by the Belgian authorities, the order of self-isolation and testing for COVID-19 falls within the competence of the regional authorities," the Romanian ministry explained.

MAE also said that, as of August 1, all persons entering Belgium are required to complete the Passenger Locator Form within 48 hours prior to arrival in Belgium. The form is available online here. Persons traveling on routes other than by air or by sea and staying in Belgium for a maximum of 48 hours (including for transit purposes) and those whose journey outside Belgium does not exceed 48 hours are exempted from completing the form.
