Bear wandering Sibiu streets, shot dead by hunters

A brown bear that was spotted wandering the streets of Sibiu, central Romania, on Wednesday morning, was put down by an intervention team after all efforts to immobilize it apparently failed. Police officers, gendarmes, firefighters and zoo employees intervened right after Sibiu residents announced the incident, trying to locate and catch the animal. The bear wandered the streets for a couple of hours and even climbed on rooftops (See video below). As the animal was scared and agitated, the risk of becoming aggressive was high, according to the authorities. Thus, after the attempts to tranquilize it failed, some hunters shot it dead, reports local Digi24. Zoo representatives said that the bear did not belong to them. The bear didn’t hurt anyone. Romania has a large population of bears.
