78-year-old Romanian finds EUR 14,000 on the street, hands it to the police

A 78-year-old man from Vanatori commune, Vrancea county, found a backpack with some EUR 14,000 on a street in Focsani, and decided not to keep the money for himself but do the right thing and give it to the police. He first asked the people on the street if somebody lost the backpack, reports local News.ro. However, as nobody seemed to know the owner, he took the backpack home where he found that it contained EUR 13,700. That is when he decided to go to the police. The local police later found the owner. The backpack belonged to a woman who had just sold a land plot. Just a few days ago, a man of Roma ethnicity found a wallet with about EUR 1,300 on a street in Arad, a city in Western Romania, and decided to give it to the Local Police.
