17 injured after two buses carrying 80 Dacia employees collide in Romania

At least 17 people were injured after two buses carrying employees of the Dacia factory in Mioveni collided in Pitesti, Romania, on Friday morning. All 17 people wounded in the accident were transported to the Pitesti County Hospital, but there were also other people who were injured but didn’t want to be taken to the hospital, reports local News.ro. The authorities activated the red plan of intervention, with more than 12 ambulances arriving at the scene, as well as a special vehicle with water and foam, and other intervention vehicles. According to the preliminary investigation, the two buses were going in the same direction, and the accident occurred because one of the drivers didn’t keep the safety distance and hit the bus in front. Two other major accidents occurred in Romania this month. On November 5, more than 50 people were injured and four lost their lives following a serious multi-vehicle collision on the A2 highway, which connects Bucharest to Constanta seaside resort. Ten days later, other multiple car accidents took place on the same highway, due to glaze ice on the road. In the last week, two serious accidents occurred on DN2 which connects Bucharest to Romania’s Moldova region. On Saturday, three people died and 15 were injured in an accident between a passenger car and a microbus at Sindrilita. A few days later, on Tuesday, four lost their lives and three were injured following a crash between a microbus and a freight truck between Focsani and Adjud. Many fatal crashs on Romania's roads are caused by speeding. On Thursday, November 24, in just four hours, the traffic police suspended the driver licenses of 24 drivers, because they exceeded the speed limit on DN2 by more than 50 km/hour.
