Romanians spend most of their money on food and dwelling

Food and dwelling have the highest shares in the Romanians’ monthly expenses although there are some differences between generations, according to a research by Golin and iSense Solutions.

Romanians spend on average RON 753 (EUR 162) on food and RON 680 (EUR 146) on dwelling.

The study, which focuses on urban internet users, shows that Baby Boomers (the 55-64 age generation) have an average monthly budget of RON 2,407, Generation X (39-54 years) have RON 2.759, Millennials (24-38) – RON 2.305 and Generation Z (18-23 years) – RON 914.

“Millennials are more independent in making shopping decisions but often exceed their monthly budgets. Baby Boomers and Generation Z representatives save the most and Generation X representatives have the highest revenues but also borrow the highest sums. These are only a few of the differences between today’s consumers,” reads the study.
