Romanians fail to break two world records

The Romanians tried to break two world records last Saturday, May 28 but failed at both. While more than 10,000 people gathered at the National Arena in Bucharest to try beating the record for the largest CPR session, over 6,000 went on a beach in Constanta hoping to set a new record for Greece’s famous Sirtaki dance. On Saturday, a total of 10,175 people attended the largest CPR training session ever organized in Romania, at the National Arena in Bucharest. However, they’ve failed to break the current world record of 11,840 participants set in Germany in September 2013. Students from over 200 schools were invited to take part in the event, organized during Resuscitation Week, reports local Mediafax. A Guinness World Records’ representative was also there to certify the Romanians’ performance. Later the same day, over 6,300 people gathered on a beach in Constanta seaside resort to set a new world record for the largest Sirtaki dance. However, the weather spoiled their plans. The event was supposed to start at 19:00, but a downpour hit the resort and forced the organizers to delay the dance. At 22:00, there were over 6,300 people on the beach, ready to start dancing. The number was higher than the current record of 5,614 people, set in Greece in 2012. However, Guinness representative Seyda Sibasi Gemici decided not validate the Romanians’ attempt, saying that it was too dark to make an accurate count, reports local Digi24.
