Romanian company TARA Interactive develops medical app for the US healthcare system

14 June 2023

TARA Interactive, a Romanian software development company, said is working on an application that provides unprecedentedly secure access to patients' medical data. The app, MedicalVault, is compatible with the American healthcare system and is being developed with the Blockchain technology, which is also used for virtual currencies.

The first phase of the project will be completed in August of this year, the company said.

MedicalVault aims to centralize patient data from all hospitals in the US and facilitate instant sharing of information with doctors or representatives of institutions such as insurers, where medical history is important. The protection of personal medical data is a key element in the transfer of this information.

The idea of MedicalVault belongs to a consortium of doctors, and the project aims to improve access and management of medical information for patients in the American healthcare system.

"From a technical perspective, this project is of great importance for the future of healthcare systems worldwide. MedicalVault is a novelty in the medical field in terms of personal data protection. We are confident that the MedicalVault application will revolutionize how patients share their medical information in the most secure way possible, anticipating the moment when access to personal medical data will be predominantly in digital format," said Vlad Lepădatu, managing partner at TARA Interactive.

The MedicalVault app complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, a federal law in the United States that sets standards for the protection of personal medical information. Patient information is encrypted using blockchain technology to ensure safety and confidentiality, and access is limited to authorized individuals for medical purposes.

Processes and interactions with medical data are monitored and tracked to ensure compliance with HIPAA standards, and additional security measures are implemented to protect against unauthorized access to patient data, ensuring data confidentiality. The sharing of a patient's medical data with partnering doctors can be done through an email or SMS containing a unique QR code.

"We are developing an innovative and secure solution for managing the medical information of patients in the American healthcare system. By using a private Blockchain and an Adapter, we can provide patients with simple and secure access to their medical information, which will improve the efficiency and quality of the medical care they receive. By adding the feature of sharing medical data, we are confident that MedicalVault is capable of changing the collaboration protocol between patients and doctors in the American healthcare system," added Vlad Lepădatu.

TARA Interactive was founded in 1991 as an IT company focused on implementing new technologies. The company currently has over 50 employees in its offices in Bucharest and Chișinău and carries out international projects in the US and Europe, in fields such as fintech, sports, consulting, transportation, logistics, eCommerce, and retail.
