Romanian students win gold at Asian Physics Olympiad 2018

The Romanian students who participated in the 2018 edition of the Asian Physics Olympiad won four gold medals, one silver, one bronze, and two mentions.

A total of 185 contestants participated in the competition, which took place in Vietnam between May 6 and May 12, and nine of them got special prizes, 33 won gold medals, 13 got silver and 24 won bronze.

Romania’s team was made up of eight students, and all of them managed to win medals or prizes. The Romanian gold medalists were Radu Andrei (Brăila), Petru Cotruţ (Bucureşti), Ştefan Răzvan Bălăucă (Botoşani) and Răzvan Mihai Ursu (Constanţa), the silver medalist was Cosmin Andrei (Galaţi), and the bronze medalist was Sebastian Leontică (Piatra-Neamţ), local Romaniatv.net reported. Moreover, Silviu Predoi (Bucharest) and Ştefan Dolteanu (Oneşti) received special mentions.

The event is mainly dedicated to students from Asian countries, the Romanian team being the only one in Europe that has qualified for the Olympiad.
