Romanian songs of the week: Edward Maya ft Vika Jigulina- Stereo Love, Desert Rain

Romanian singer Edward Maya has become well known internationally after some of his songs landed top spots in international music charts. Stereo Love, a song Maya sings together with Vika Jigulina, has been included for 13 weeks in the Billboard charts and ranked 19th in the Billboard Top 100 in December last year. It is the highest position for a Romanian song in the Billboard top. Maya thus became the first Romanian featured in the top 20 Billboard Hot 100. The song also got a Golden Disk in the US and a Platinum Disk in Canada. It ranked 12th in the general iTunes top. Listen to Stereo Love below and check out the rest of the Billboard Hot 100 here. Edward Maya (his real name Ilie Eduard Marian, born in 1986) is a Romanian musician, producer, performer and composer. He graduated from the George Enescu Music High School in Bucharest and is currently a final year student at the Bucharest Conservatory. Stereo Love was his first song, which was launched in 2009. It reached the first position in Romanian charts and became a club hit across the world. In 2010, Maya released his follow-up singles, "This Is My Life," and "Desert Rain" (listen to the songs and watch videos below) as well as his first album, called The Stereo Love Show. He also set up his own record label, Mayavin Records. Vika Jigulina, who sings with Maya in all these three songs, goes by the real name of Victoria Corneva. She is a Russian-born Romanian music producer, singer, and DJ. She was born in Moscow, in 1983, to a Russian father and a Romanian mother and graduated from the Rachmaninov School of Music. editor@romania-insider.com
