Romanian PM Ciuca, deputies' speaker Ciolacu visit Ukraine

Romanian prime minister Nicolae Ciucă paid an official visit to Ukraine on Tuesday, April 26, together with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu.

The two Romanian officials held talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky, prime minister Denys Shmyhal, and the president of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanciuk. In addition, they went to the localities of Irpin and Borodianka, which were destroyed by the Russian army.

During talks with Ukrainian officials, Marcel Ciolacu advocated for the rights of Romanians in Ukraine and stressed the regional role that Romania is prepared to play in the post-war reconstruction process.

Prime minister Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca discussed with Ukrainian officials new options for supporting Ukraine.

"We appreciate Romania's support for defence, humanitarian aid and a clear position in the policy of sanctions [against Russia]. We look forward to supporting Ukraine's future in the European Union," Volodymyr Zelensky posted on his Facebook page after the visit.

Romanian prime minister Nicolae Ciucă paid an official visit to Ukraine on Tuesday, April 26, together with the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu.
