Romanian low cost airline expects EUR 200 mln turnover

Romanian low cost airline Blue Air will increase its turnover to EUR 200 million this year, and the number of carried passengers will exceed two million, due to more routes and more aircrafts, said Gheorghe Racaru, Blue Air general director. Last year, Blue Air had EUR 150 million in revenues. The company announced it would introduce 23 new routes within the 2016 summer schedule, both for the operating bases in Romania and for those in Italy and Cyprus. Blue Air will operate six new destinations from Bucharest, a new route from Constanta and Sibiu, three new destinations from Iasi, and eight new routes from Torino.

Birmingham, Glasgow, Stockholm, Lyon, Hamburg and Caselle are the new international routes that the company will operate starting March 29, 2016.

“Blue Air has left the low cost area and has become a hybrid company. From the low cost area, we only keep the prices,” said Tudor Tudor Constantinescu, Blue Air commercial director. editor@romania-insider.com
