Romanian justice minister organizes public tender to find judiciary’s problems

16 May 2017

Justice minister Tudorel Toader said that he would organize a public tender to verify the problems faced by the judiciary in Romania.

The minister spoke yesterday after the second public debate on the draft law amending Romania’s Criminal Code.

“It's more than an audit, it's an assessment of the current state of judiciary to see exactly where we are, to see exactly what we have to do, what we need to improve,” Tudorel Toader said, reports local News.ro.

He added that the audit service would most likely be external, provided by a “specialized firm that can be from abroad or from the country.” The auditor will be selected through a public tender procedure.

The minister also said that the draft law on amending Romania’s Criminal Code would be sent to the Parliament on Monday(yesterday) or Tuesday (today).
