Romanian entrepreneur opens new hotel in Targu Mures after EUR 7 mln investment

Romanian entrepreneur Alina Plopeanu recently opened a four-star hotel in the Romanian city of Targu Mures, in the center of Romania, following a EUR 7 million investment.

The hotel, which is named Privo, has 40 rooms and was inaugurated earlier this week. The investment also includes the restoration of a historic villa in Targu Mures, Villa Csonka, which also has six guest rooms. The two buildings are located in a 3,500 sqm park.

Alina Plopeanu expects son EUR 700,000 in revenues this year, with an average occupancy of 45 percent. Next year the revenues should grow to EUR 900,000, with an occupancy rate of more than 60 percent. Most clients are business tourists.

The hotel is a modern building with large glass façade and it is decorated in a minimalistic style, while the villa is and art nouveau building for which the owner kept the original style of the 1900s. The hotel has a restaurant which can host 160 people, three conference rooms, a lobby bar, a terrace, a wine cellar and a SPA center.

Adina Plopeanu, the owner of the hotel, is the daughter of Emil Morariu, one of the former main shareholders of beer producer Bere Mures, which was taken over by Heineken in 2008 following EUR 150 million deal. The family also owns a construction company, office buildings and a logistic park in Targu-Mures.
