As perceived by the CCIFER community, the way to maintain investors' appetite is to continue capitalizing on the structural competitive advantages also identified in the study. First and foremost, Romania's membership in the European community and NATO represents a strategic competitive advantage over other countries in the region. Another extremely valuable strategic resource, recognized by all respondents as an absolute competitive advantage, is human capital: highly talented individuals who are eager to learn, resilient in the face of current challenges, and solution-oriented.

Economic sectors with competitive potential and an impact on regional security, such as energy, represent another strategic factor.

In the meantime, while maximizing strengths, it is also important to tackle the key identified barriers to economic development: political instability, legislative unpredictability, bureaucracy, corruption, insufficient administrative capacity, and the lack of a long-term strategic vision.

By supporting and intensifying dialogue between public institutions and the business community, public policies become more aligned with economic realities, a role CCIFER has played in Romania for 30 years through dedicated sessions, sector-specific events, and community-generated position papers.

Foster sustained joint efforts, such as the partnership CCIFER has conducted in education with the country's dual education institutions and the university sector, aimed at bridging the gap between actual labor market needs and the skills acquired in schools, while also actively identifying career opportunities for young graduates.

Leverage on public-private partnership projects and a coherent regulatory framework for such initiatives can serve as a strategic solution to address the identified challenges.

Looking towards the next 30 years

As it enters its fourth decade of activity, CCIFER aims to continue expanding its community, with a strong focus on SMEs and regional development, to help build the skills of the future, and to intensify dialogue with authorities on key issues such as taxation, infrastructure, the reduction of bureaucracy, and digitalization.

The challenge lies no longer in identifying opportunities, but in creating a coherent framework that allows them to be fully leveraged.
