Romania buys EUR 13.9 mln radar from Lockheed Martin

05 February 2018

Romanian state-owned defense contractor Romtehnica has purchased a tridimensional radar worth EUR 13.9 million (without VAT) from American group Lockheed Martin, according to an announcement in the electronic public purchase system – SEAP.

The radar, which serves air defense purposes, will be delivered to Chitila, a commune North of Bucharest.

The purchase was done through direct negotiation, without a prior purchase notice, because only the American group produces this type of equipment.

Lockheed Martin is the biggest weapons producer in the world, with sales of USD 40.8 billion in 2016.
