Romania, among EU countries with highest annual inflation rate

Romania recorded an annual inflation rate of 2.6% in November, according to EU’s statistical office Eurostat. It was one of the EU countries with the highest price increases.

Estonia ranked first, with an annual inflation rate of 4.5% in November. It was followed by Lithuania (4.2%), the United Kingdom (3.1%), Latvia (2.7%) and Romania (2.6%).

Compared with October 2017, the annual inflation rate decreased in four member states, remaining stable in nine countries and rising in 15 member countries, including Romania. The annual inflation rate in the European Union (EU) slightly increased in November, compared with October, from 1.7% to 1.8%.

The data previously published by Romania’s National Statistics Institute showed that the annual inflation rate reached 3.2% in November, up from 2.6% in October, due to 3.8% increases in food prices and 4.1% increase in price of non-food products.
