Romania went up one place in the competitiveness ranking by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD).

The country currently ranks 49^th out of 63 economies, while its neighbors Hungary and Bulgaria rank 47^th and 48^th, respectively.

Romania fares better than the Slovak Republic, Greece, Croatia and Ukraine. The USA leads the ranking, followed by Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, Netherlands, Switzerland.

The ranking compiles 258 indicators for national and European statistics, together with poll results on topics such as corruption, the environment and quality of life.
