07 March 2019

Romanian transport minister Răzvan Cuc announced on March 6, at Campia Turzii, that Austrian company Porr Construct won the auction for the first 13 kilometers of the Sibiu-Piteşti motorway, namely the Sibiu-Boiţa segment.

The state company in charge of infrastructure projects - CNAIR confirmed that Porr won the tender with a financial offer of EUR 129 million, VAT not included, or EUR 9.7 million per kilometer, local Agerpres reported. The execution period is four years from the moment the signing of the contract, namely one year for design and three for execution. The contract will be signed this month unless a third party appeals the tender result.

The transport minister also announced that he has sent to the National Agency for Public Procurement (ANAP) the tender file for the design and execution of the 4th section of the Sibiu-Pitesti motorway.

The Sibiu-Pitesti motorway will have a length of 122.1 kilometers divided into five lots: Sibiu-Boita, Boita-Cornetu, Cornetu-Tigveni, Tigveni-Curtea de Arges and Curtea de Arges-Pitesti. The route will have nine tunnels and eight motorway crossroads.

Porr Construct has also won the tender for doubling the railway line between the Mogoşoaia and Baloteşti stations (design and execution), which is part of the train link between Bucharest's main train station (Gara de Nord) and the Henri Coanda International Airport in Otopeni. The contract's value is RON 50.5 million (EUR 10.7 million) plus VAT, Romania’s National Railway Company - CFR announced on Monday.
