Parking fees may increase in Bucharest

Bucharest City Hall wants to introduce new tariffs for parking in the city, according to a draft bill the Bucharest General Council will discuss in its next meeting, scheduled for Thursday. This may mean higher parking fees, especially in the center of the city.

According to the project, Bucharest will be split into several zones with different parking fees, local Mediafax reported.

For example, the Zone 0 will cover the center of the city and will have four segments, namely: the Intercontinental parking area, with the streets N. Bălcescu – C.A. Rosetti – D. Gerota – J. L. Calderon – T. Arghezi – Carol I; the underground parking area of the Universitatii Square, with the streets N. Bălcescu – I. Câmpineanu – Calea Victoriei – Splaiul Independenţei – I. C. Brătianu; the Cocor parking area, with the streets I. C. Brătianu – Sf. Vineri – Calea Moşilor – H. Botev – C. Coposu; and the Unirea parking area, with the streets C. Coposu – M. Basarab – Mircea Vodă – Unirii – Brătianu.

The tariff for parking in Zone 0 will be of RON 10 per hour, from Monday to Friday. Parking will be limited to a maximum of two hours and, after this period, the fee will increase. At present, the parking fee is of RON 1.5 per hour.

The tariffs for Zone 1, which will comprise Victoriei Square and the streets Iancu de Hunedoara, Polonă, Şincai, Mărăşeşti, Berzei and Buzeşti, will be of RON 5 per hour between 06:01 and 18:00 and RON 2.5 between 18:01 and 06:00.

In Zone 2, which is located between Zone 1 and the city limits, the rates will be RON 2.5 per hour between 06:01 and 18:00 and RON 1.5 per hour between 18:01 and 06:00.
