Low cost airline Wizz Air carried 2.1 million passengers to and from Romania last year, up 33 percent compared to the previous year, according to the company. Wizz Air, with 42 permanent routes serving Romania, has also announced new ones: Bucharest – Bari, Bucharest – Alicante, Bucharest – Eindhoven and Cluj – Larnaca. In total, Wizz Air carried 9.6 million passengers in 2010, up 23 percent on 2009. The average occupancy rates of its flights was of 84 percent last year. The low cost airline operates a fleet of 34 airplanes in 12 bases in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine and the Czech Republic. editor@romania-insider.com
