Winter is getting harder: Weather alert for rain, snow and strong wind in Romania

Romania’s Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued on Monday, December 8, a Code Yellow alert for rain, snow, ice and strong wind for several counties in Romania and the capital Bucharest. The alert is valid between December 8, 23:00, and December 10, 10:00. In this period, the precipitations will extend from the South, gradually covering most areas in the country. The counties targeted by the weather alert are Maramures, Bistrita-Nasaud, Botosani, Mures, Harghita, Suceava, Neamt, Iasi, Bacau, Vaslui, Brasov, Covasna, Vrancea, Galati, Sibiu, Mehedinti, Gorj, Valcea, Arges, Dambovita, Prahova, Buzau, Braila, Dolj, Olt, Ialomita, Calarasi, Teleorman, Ilfov and Giurgiu, as well as the capital Bucharest. It will rain heavily in Muntenia and Oltenia, the amounts of water being estimated at 25-50 liters per sqm. It will also rain in Moldova area, but here the rain is expected to turn into snow, according to ANM’s estimates.
