Water and wastewater systems in three Romanian counties to be upgraded with EUR 333 mln

The Romanian Minister of Environment and Forests, Laszlo Borbely has recently signed three contracts totaling EUR 333.6 million for projects aimed to expand and upgrade water and wastewater systems in the counties of Bacau, Botosani, Galati, according to the Ministry. Of the total amount, EUR 285.7 million comes from the European Union's Cohesion Fund. The first project signed on Tuesday refers to the extension and rehabilitation of water and wastewater infrastructure in Bacau county, and its beneficiary is SC Compania Regionala de Apa Bacau SA. The duration of the project is between 2011 and 2013. The value of the funding contract is EUR 107.5 million, of which EUR 91.3 million is the contribution from the European Union's Cohesion Fund. The second project provides for expansion and modernization of water supply and wastewater drainage in the county of Botosani and its implementation period is between 2011 and 2014. The contract's value is of EUR 109.3 million. The project for expansion and modernization of water supply and wastewater in the county of Galati will be implemented from 2011 to 2013.
