VAT rate on agricultural products goes down to 9% in Romania

The VAT rate on agricultural products, including seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural services, went down from 20% to 9% starting August 1. The measure was introduced after the Romanian farmers had complained that the lower VAT rate on food, which was introduced in June last year, has caused them more harm, because the VAT rate on production factors remained high. The farmers experienced syncopes due to the VAT differences between inputs and outputs. The current measure is expected to address these problems. editor@romania-insider.com
