US firm Emerson plans further investment in Romania with a new EUR 50 million facility

US company Emerson is planning a EUR 50 million investment in Romania to build a new production and support facility in Oradea, according to Romanian newspaper Ziarul Financiar (ZF). Work is due to begin early next year in the North Western Romanian city and the new facility will add to the company's existing unit in Cluj, where a further EUR 15 million investment is also planned, ZF reports.

Around 1,500 new jobs will be created in Romania in the coming years, the company estimates. Emerson is due to sign a contract for a 14 hectare plot in Oradea's Euro Business Park and two main development phases are planned; a production unit at the start of 2013 and a new office building, where work will begin towards the end of next year, according to ZF.

US manufacturing and technology firm Emerson Electric has a global presence and supplies a range of products and services to the industrial, commercial and consumer markets. The company has a history dating back well over a hundred years and has continuously diversified its business, from engineering to electrical equipment and later electronic goods and network infrastructure.
