Two in five Romanians drink beer while on vacation

Almost two out of five Romanians drink beer while on vacation, this drink ranking first among beverages consumed on holiday, according to a GfK study conducted at the request of Romania’s Brewers Association, cited by local Wall-street.ro Moreover, over 97 percent of the beer consumed by Romanians is produced locally. The beer consumption dropped by some 10 percent last year, reaching a volume of 16.3 million hectoliters. The consumption per capita reached 81 liters, similar to the one in 2005-2006, when Romanians consumed some 84 liters per inhabitant. Some of the most important beer producers on the local market are Bergenbier, Heineken, United Romanian Breweries Bereprod and Ursus Breweries. Irina Popescu, irina.popescu@romania-insider.com
