Trade deficit increases by EUR 1.5 bln in Romania in the first ten months

Romania’s trade deficit increased to EUR 7.9 billion in the first ten months of the year, as the imports grew faster than the exports, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS). Exports went up by 4.1% whereas imports rose by 6.4% during this period. The trade deficit recorded between January and October this year was almost EUR 1.5 billion higher compared to the one recorded during the same period last year. The exports amounted to EUR 47.77 billion whereas the imports totaled EUR 55.67 billion. Most of Romania’s exports and imports are carried inside the EU. The exports to the EU amounted to EUR 39.95 billion during the first ten months of the year whereas the imports reached EUR 43.06 billion during this period. They accounted for 75.3% of the total exports, respectively 77.2% of the total imports. Outside the EU, Romania exported goods of EUR 11.8 billion between January and October this year. It imported goods of EUR 12.6 billion from countries that are not EU members during this period. Cars, automotive components, and transport equipment had the highest shares in exports (47.1%) and imports (37.9%). editor@romania-insider.com
