Telekom launches smart city project in Constanta

Telecom operator Telekom Romania has launched together with the Chinese company ZTE a smart city project in Constanta. The project includes intelligent parking and street lighting solutions, as well as a power socket for electric cars, environmental monitoring sensors and a module for providing free internet services through wi-fi technology, reports local Ziarul Financiar. “It is a small pilot project, but we are delighted that the city's strategy is to launch pilot projects that show citizens and visitors the benefits of a smart city," said Miroslav Majoros, CEO of Telekom Romania. This is the second smart city project launched by Telekom in Romania. The first one was presented in the Tineretului Park in Bucharest in April 2016. “Smart City projects are the proof that the public sector responds to the need for new public interest services, which bring new benefits to citizens and reduce the operating costs of city halls,” said Ovidiu Ghiman, Telekom Romania executive director. editor@romania-insider.com
