Telecom operators in Romania to pay less in case of radio interference

Romania’s Ministry of Communications has initiated a bill that will allow telecom operators to pay less for using radio frequencies allocated through a license, if these frequencies are interfered by other radio communication stations, thus affecting their services. The Ministry released the draft project in the middle of a dispute between telecom operator Vodafone and Romania’s Communications Authority ANCOM, reports local Hotnews.ro. Vodafone has asked ANCOM to pay it EUR 15 million worth of damages, because it couldn’t use a part of the spectrum acquired in 2012 from the Romanian state in over 20 counties, due to interference caused by communication companies from Ukraine. editor@romania-insider.com
