Stressful jobs don't always pay better, survey finds. Top of most stressful jobs

Enlisted military soldiers, firefighters and airline pilots have the most stressful jobs in the US, according to the 2012 CareerCast.com Job Stress Report, which surveys 200 different professions and measures work environment, job competitiveness, risk and related factors. Medical technicians rank as the least stressful jobs, along with jewelers and hair stylists.

"In fact, the most stressful job of 2012 pays about the same as the least stressful job, and the low-stress jobs are all indoors in comfortable environments. An enlisted soldier makes USD 35,500 a year, while the medical technician earns some USD 32,000 a year. Both of them earn only a sixth of what a military general – the fourth stressful job – does. Military general make the highest amount a year – some USD 196,000 a year. They are followed by corporate executives, with some USD 165,000 a year and airline pilots, with some USD 103,000 a year. Public relations executives, also on the list of stressful jobs, make some USD 91,800 a year.
