About 20% of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) should receive online orders by 2020, whereas 30% of all population aged 16-74 should be able to purchase goods and services online by the same year, said Bebe-Viorel Ionica, State Secretary in the Ministry for the Information Society. He spoke during the “e-Commerce” conference organized by online publication Gandul. Only 10% of the Romanians aged 16-74 made purchases online last year, and only 7% of SMEs sold goods or services online, according to a European Commission report. By comparison, 14% of the big companies traded products or services online. The online retail amounted to some EUR 1.1 billion in 2014, according to Andrei Radu, GpeC founder.
