About one million Romanians need to recover the money paid as car pollution taxes, which have been declared inconsistent with European law. The Romanian state needs to repay some RON 3 billion (EUR 671 million) in three years, in annual tranches. The money will be given back to the Romanians who paid car pollution taxes introduced by the state between 2007 and 2013. The money will be paid back via the tax authority ANAF. The people will be able to recover their money through a simple request for refund submitted at ANAF units.
