Slovenian pharma group Krka reports higher sales in Romania in first nine months

Slovenian pharmaceutical group Krka has "strengthened its position in Romania" after recording total sales of EUR 32.8 million in the first nine months of the year in the country, up 9 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. “A considerable contribution to overall sales came from prescription pharmaceuticals launched on the market in the last three years,” reads the company’s report. The sales of prescription pharmaceuticals in Romania went up seven percent year-on-year in the first nine months of 2013, while for the non-prescription products the increase was 31 percent. “Among non-prescription products, we have high expectations for Naldorex (naproxen) and Herbion ivy syrup, both launched last year,” shows the report. In Romania, its largest market in the region, the company also sells animal health products. Krka’s product sales in the markets of South-Eastern Europe totaled EUR 98.6 million in the first nine months of 2013, down four percent compared to the same period last year.
