Several bars, restaurants in Bucharest’s Old Town close down

A third of the bars and restaurants located in Bucharest’s Historical Centre in buildings with high seismic risk have been closed, and their owners are looking for other spaces to relocate them. Some restaurants have restricted their activity to catering activities so as not to close down completely. The owners are looking for new spaces to relocate their business. The units which were closed include City Grill Lipscani, Biutiful, Taverna Racilor, and Exclusive Grill, reports local Profit.ro. The Historical Centre has about 200 bars, restaurants and clubs in total. It’s not only restaurants and bars that closed, but theaters and cinemas as well. The Nottara Theater and the Patria Cinema on Magheru Boulevard, have suspended their activities as they are located in high seismic risk buildings. The law which forbids stores, restaurants and other commercial units to operate at the ground floor of buildings with high seismic risk has entered into force this week. The law was passed last week, after 60 people had died in a fire in Bucharest’s Colectiv Club, which was operating without the fire permit. editor@romania-insider.com
