Romania's Tecau advances to doubles' semifinals at Australian Open

Romanian tennis player Horia Tecau qualified for the semifinals of Grand Slam tournament Australian Open, where he will play doubles with Indian Sania Mirza. The duo defeated Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Julia Goerges in the quarterfinals. They are now to face the team Matthew Ebden/Jarmila Gajdosova. Tecau and Mirza will receive AUD 33,900 prize for their qualification into the semifinals. Tecau's qualification comes soon after Romania’s up-and-coming women’s tennis star Simona Halep suffered a crushing defeat at the Australian Open grand slam in the quarterfinal.
