Romania’s Tax Authority ANAF identified over EUR 1 billion worth of damages from tax dodging in the first five months of the year, up 87% year-on-year. The Tax Inspection within ANAF carried out over 26,000 controls in this period, inspecting companies and individuals. The authority found more damages compared to last year, as it directed its searches to areas with high tax risk, according to ANAF. It also improved its selection of tax contributors which had to be checked. ANAF found damages of over EUR 839 million in the first four months of the year, almost triple – 172% – compared to January-April 2014. editor@romania-insider.com
