Romania's Rompetrol wants franchised gas stations and USD 100 mln co-generation plant

Oil and gas company Rompetrol wants to open 150 franchised gas stations in the next four years in Romania, which would create 1,000 new jobs, according to the company's CEO Saduokhas Meraliyev. Rompetrol will also open and operate 10 to 15 of its own gas stations during this period. The investment needed for one gas station in Romania goes up to EUR 1.5 million. Rompetrol Downstream has 1,100 distribution points in six countries, with 800 of them in Romania. 450 of these are gas stations. The group runs Rompetrol and Litro gas stations in Romania. Moreover, the oil and gas group wants to build a co-generation plant of 75 MW near its Petromidia refinery, to cover the group's own consumption. The company currently analyzes two scenarios but inclines towards one of them, which includes a USD 100 million investment for the 75 MW plant.
