Romania’s Nuclearelectrica buys USD 26.7 mln equipment from GE

State-owned electricity producer Nuclearelectrica signed a USD 26.7 million contract with American group General Electric to replace a control system at Unit 1 of the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant. General Electric was the sole bidder capable of providing the required services, according to the official announcement for assigning the contract. Nuclearelectrica is one of the country’s top three electricity producers and has a share of almost 20% of the total electricity output. The company operates the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant which has two nuclear reactors with installed capacities of 700 MW each. Nuclearelectrica is listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange and had a market capitalization of EUR 523 million. editor@romania-insider.com
