Romania’s Ministry for European Funds pays EUR 7.5 mln to EIB experts for better implementation of projects

Romania’s Ministry for European Funds signed Tuesday (September 24) an agreement worth EUR 7.5 million with the European Investment Bank (EIB) for contracting EIB experts to improve the implementation of projects in the transport and environment sectors. The amount covers the experts’ payment for two years and also the payment of services contracted by EIB from third parties. The deal is financed from European Funds, through the Technical Assistance Operational Programme, according to a ministry statement. Under the agreement, the Romanian ministry will contract seven EIB experts who will advise the Managing Authority of the Sectoral Operational Programme Transport, the Department of Infrastructure Projects and Foreign Investments and the Managing Authority of the Sectoral Operational Programme Environment. “The EIB experts will act as independent consultants and will provide support in all the stages necessary for implementing the projects in the mentioned sectors,” according to the Ministry of European Funds. The agreement was signed by EIB Vice-President Mihai Tanasescu, the Romanian Minister of European Funds Eugen Teodorovici, the Transport Minister Ramona Manescu, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Rovana Plumb and Secretary of State Alexandru Nastase, as representative of the Department for Infrastructure Projects and Foreign Investments.
