Romania's hospitals can receive up to 5,000 people in intensive care units

Romania’s hospitals can receive a maximum of 5,000 people in intensive care if disaster strikes. The country had less than 5,000 beds in the intensive care units across Romania at the end of 2014, according to the National Institute of Statistics, reports local Economica.net. About 4,600 of them were in public hospitals. Romania now has about 100 hospitals and public institutes with intensive care units. These units had 3.8% of the total number of beds in public and private hospitals across the country at the end of 2014. Private hospitals had 355 beds in the intensive care units. About 527 hospitals were operating in Romania at the end of 2014, up 28 compared to 2013. Some 366 of them are public, whereas 161 are private. editor@romania-insider.com
