Romania's Government drafts program to support farmers in buying equipment

Romanian farmers who will form associations could get state guarantees of 40-60% for the purchase of agricultural equipment, through a government program that is currently being drafted, said the Finance Minister Anca Dragu. The program could offer support for buying tractors, animal transport trailers or garbage transport vehicles. The state will grant guarantees of 40-60% of the equipment's price, reports local Agerpres. The agriculture has a higher share in the GDP in Romania than in other EU countries, said Dragu. The share of agriculture in the GDP reached 4.7% in Romania in 2014. The Romanian agriculture still faces significant challenges, such as the lack of irrigation systems, said Dragu. editor@romania-insider.com
