Romania's GDP could get extra EUR 25 bln with right transport and logistics policies

Implementing the right policies in the field of transport and logistics could add up to EUR 25 billion by 2025 to Romania’s GDP and create 150,000 new jobs, according to specialists. More than 250 experts and stakeholders discussed the possibilities to enhance Romania’s competitive position in Europe and develop it as the Eastgate Trade Hub of Central and Eastern Europe, through the Port of Constanta, during a recent logistic and transport seminar, according to PwC. The creation of the Romania Black Sea Gateway Association was also announced during the seminar. The association is designed to promote the development of Romania’s potential in the field of re-export activities, transport and logistics. Some of the solutions proposed by the participants refer to Romania’s VAT, the adoption of the Global Fiscal Representative system, greater use of the Authorized Economic Operator facility, custom duties deferment procedure, developing an inter-modal strategy for Romania and a top-quality supply chain and logistics education in Romania’s universities. The seminar was organized by Archicom, European Gateways Platform, the Dutch-Romanian Network, the Netherlands-Romania Chamber of Commerce and PwC Romania.
