Romania's furniture exports, up to EUR 1 billion from January – November last year

Romania's furniture exports grew by 13.5 percent in the first 11 months of last year, to EUR 1.08 billion, according to the Association of Furniture Producers in Romania. Meanwhile, imports dropped by 3.3 percent, to EUR 289 million. The production volume for furniture and furniture parts went down by 2.5 percent in the first 11 months of 2010, to EUR 1.65 billion. “After the major decline in 2009, we welcome the timid 2010 comeback, taking into account the harsh measures imposed by the Government during the year. For 2011, the estimations are optimistic, but the impact of austerity measures from 2010 could trigger a reduction of economic activities this year throughout the entire Europe, which could influence the export of goods as well. […] Certainly, the furniture market will continue to increase this year,” said Aurica Sereny, president of the Association of Furniture Producers in Romania. editor@romania-insider.com
