Romania’s total external debt reached EUR 96.9 billion at the end of October this year, up 4.9 percent compared to end-2010, according to the country’s Central Bank (BNR). The debt has however down month-on-month, from EUR 97.9 billion recorded at the end of September. The average and long term debt covered 77.2 percent of Romania’a total external debt in the first ten months, while the short-term debt covered the rest, according to BNR. Deposits created by foreigners on medium and long term reached EUR 8.25 billion, from EUR 8.22 billion reported at the end of 2010. The loans from the International Monetary fund, based on the stand-by agreement with Romania stood at EUR 9.7 billion at the end of October, from EUR 9 billion at the end of 2010.
