Romania's Energy Authority approves ten-year plan for developing the grid

Romania’s National Regulatory Authority for Energy (ANRE) has approved the plan for developing the transmission grid between 2016 and 2025, which was drafted by the state-owned company Transelectrica. The plan provides investments of EUR 1.1 billion, but it doesn’t specify the financing sources. The company argues that the plan will be financed through “an adequate and balanced mix” and “by considering all the options and instruments offered by the financial market,” reports local News.ro. The plan is no novelty. Transelectrica drafts a ten-year grid development plan every two years. The company, which is controlled by the Economy Ministry, has been criticized in the last years for the lack of investments in modernizing the grid. editor@romania-insider.com
